Compost Bin
The Green Room

Now and then people ask me what kind of ‘earth saving’ products I use in my own day to day.  These three immediately come to mind because they’re hands down the coolest ones I have.  Not only are they well designed, they’re extremely functional.

This has become my favorite travel mug.  Word of advice though – don’t put the lid in the dishwasher.

I keep this at my desk and refill it throughout the day.  Careful – made completely of glass, including the cap.

My mum sent me these for my birthday last year.  Blue Shark is my favorite.

Have you seen any cool ‘reusables’ out there? I’d love to hear about them – – shines@honbue.com or 441-4452.

Shannon, cool site! We like to buy the Lorina sparkling lemonade and re-use the glass carafe for water in the fridge. They have it at Fat Greek on Waialae and in some grocery stores. http://www.lorina.com/Site/eng/Corporate/Pages/Produits/Produits_L_4.html

I love the reusable Starbucks iced coffee cup, complete with straw. It’s great; double insulated, easy to rinse out and use the very next morning! Seeing someone with a DD disposable cold cup nestled in a disposable hot cup is total waste. Keep us the good work!

Does anyone know where I might be able to find one of those glass water bottles locally? Cool product but I’d rather buy it locally than have it shipped… not sure it would make it in one piece.

@Miriam – Great suggestion! Those bottles have a great shape and the swing stopper is a personal favorite. I’ve used Grolsch bottles in the past for salad dressing – the beer isn’t bad either…

@Connie – A great way to reduce waste! Have you heard about the Beta Cup project? You can check out the challenge and the winner here: http://www.thebetacup.com/

@Alex – I don’t know of a local retailer off the top of my head (my bottle was actually a gift) – BUT I will do some research and post my findings here for you.

@Alex – I’ve found one possibility of a retailer that carries the Seletti Glass Carafe – Shop Toast (http://www.toast-ed.com/shoptoast/) is over in Kaimuki. On their website it is currently listed as out of stock, but it looks like they replenish popular items.

I’ve also seen them listed on the Neiman Marcus website so they might have them in the store (but only as a set of four – great gift idea for four people!). Two other places to try locally are Executive Chef in Ward Center and Pier One – but I’d call first.

Thanks Shannon… kind of an interesting little site! I like the twig pencils (http://www.toast-ed.com/shoptoast/otherpicks/twig.html). I’ll check out the store.
